Records. Records of examinations and tests performed by or for the contractor shall be maintained by the contractor and made available to the Government upon the Government’s request, at any time, or from time to time, during the performance of the contract and for a period of three years after delivery of the supplies to which such records relate.
Inspection. Inspection, as used herein, is defined as both examination (such as visual or auditory investigation without the use of special laboratory appliances or procedures) and testing (determination by technical means of physical and chemical properties) of the item.
Inspection and testing. Inspections and testing shall be conducted on the bottle and screw cap in accordance with commercial practice. Sampling for inspections and testing shall be in accordance with commercial practice.
Bottle leakage testing (room temperature). The bottle with screw cap closure shall be tested for leakage at room temperature. The bottle shall be filled with synthetic urine to the level indicated by the 75 ml graduation mark. Screw cap closure shall be applied hand tight. The synthetic urine filled bottle shall be vertically suspended in an inverted position for two (2) hours, and then placed in a horizontal position for two (2) hours. Any evidence of leakage from the bottle shall be cause for rejection of the bottle. Sampling for the test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105 and an S-1 inspection level. The unit of product for the leakage testing shall be an individual bottle with screw cap. The acceptance number shall be zero.
Bottle leakage testing (120 degrees (F)). The bottle with screw cap closure shall be tested for leakage at 120 degrees (F). The bottle shall be filled with synthetic urine to the level indicated by the 75 ml graduation mark. Screw cap closure shall be applied hand tight. The synthetic urine filled bottle shall be placed in an environment having a temperature of 120 degrees (F) +/- 5 (F). The filled bottle shall be vertically suspended in an inverted position for two (2) hours. Any evidence of leakage from the bottle shall be cause for rejection of the bottle. Sampling for the test shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-105 and S-1 inspection level. The unit of product for the leakage testing shall be an individual bottle with screw cap. The acceptance number shall be zero.
