round-off on the bottle. The bottle shall include permanent graduation markings with Arabic numerals for the 45, 60 and 75 milliliter liquid levels. Additional graduation markings shall be at the option of the manufacturer. The graduation markings shall also indicate that the graduations are in term of “milliliters” or its appropriate abbreviation. The 75 ml graduation shall include markings that indicate that it represents the level for a recommended maximum fill (e.g “maximum fill” or appropriate abbreviation). As an alternate, the marking for the 75 ml graduation may indicate that the bottle should not be filled above that graduation. The overall height of the bottle with the appropriate screw cap closure shall not exceed 3-1/4 inches.
Screw cap. Shall be a screw cap that includes a continuous type thread along the inner edge. The screw cap shall be constructed to provide a leakproof closure on the mating bottle. The screw cap shall be either a rigid one-piece metal or plastic cap with an inside liner, or a rigid one-piece polypropylene linerless screw cap that includes an integral inner seal ring. A screw cap with liner, if supplied, shall include a liner of sufficient thickness to form an effective leakproof seal after closure on the mating bottle. The liner shall be secured to the inside of the screw cap in such a manner that it does not fall out, and does not go off-center when the screw cap is tightened on the mating bottle. The exposed surface of the liner shall be impervious to liquids such as water and urine. The linerless screw cap, if supplied, shall include an inner seal ring that makes contact with the inner surface of the neck on the mating bottle. The tightening of the linerless screw cap on the mating bottle shall result in a tight fit of the seal ring against the inner surface of the mating bottle. The screw caps shall provide leakproof closures on the mating bottles by hand tightening. The effective applied torque for proper hand tightening shall not exceed 20 inch-pounds.
Compartmented shipping box. The compartmented shipping box shall be fabricated of suitable corrugated fiberboard, having a bursting strength of 250 psi. Box design shall include full height, half-slotted partitions. Box shall be suitable for holding and mailing 12 filled specimen bottles in an upright position. Box shall have nominal dimensions of 8-5/8 inches long 6-1/4 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches high. Box shall be marked on 2 sides with the word “UP” and an arrow toward the top of the box.
