DIMENSIONS OF STOPPERS (MM)

A +/- 1 mm tolerance shall be applicable to the dimensional requirements for the diameters (top and bottom) and lengths of the stoppers.

Shall have each stopper supplied with its stopper number size identified in the form of a raised number on the top side.

Shall have the bottom side of each perforation (in a stopper) supplied with an inserted protruding nodule (plug) that can be removed by twisting off with finger pressure. The removal of each nodule (plug) shall result in an unobstructed full length opening that permits the full insertion of laboratory glass tubing.

Shall be supplied in a unit package (see ‘Unit” requirements) that includes a label printed with the legend “CAUTION-Stoppers are rubber based and may become tacky when used with organic solvents”.

Workmanship. The bottle stoppers shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.

Unit. Package (PG). One package containing a thirty-three stopper set of the stopper sizes specified, constitutes one unit.

Quality Assurance Provisions.

Responsibility for inspection. Unless otherwise specified in the contract or purchase order, the contractor is responsible for the performance of all inspection requirements as specified herein. Except as otherwise specified in the contact or purchase order, the contractor may use his own or any facilities suitable for the performance of the inspection requirements specified herein, unless disapproved by the Government. The Government reserves the right to perform any of the inspections set forth in the specification where such inspections are deemed necessary to assure supplies and services conform to prescribed requirements.
