The totalizer shall register the total number of times all of the eight individual keys have been depressed. The counter shall indicate when the totalizer has reached a count of 100 or multiples of 100 by a signal from a ball or other audible device. One revolution or operation of the reset device shall simultaneously reset all of the key counters and the totalizer to zero.
The counter body and gears shall be constructed of metal and all parts subject to extreme wear shall be case hardened.
The counter shall be designed for recording differential white blood cell counts. The counter shall be provided with a removable classification strip or blood cell chart. The blood cell chart shall be made of a durable material and shall show the name and illustration of the particular blood cell type to be counted on each key. Each blood cell type shall be permanently and legibly illustrated in color, simulating morphological characteristics of the blood cells. The chart shall be fixed to the body of the counter in a readable position for the operator. Each blood type illustration shall be aligned on the counter with the specific window and key combination to be used for the counting.
The counter mechanism shall be enclosed in a sturdy metal housing, and shall be mounted on a base that prevents the counter from creeping or tipping during usage.
The overall dimensions of the counter shall not be greater than 30L X 12-1/2 X 12-1/2 cm. the weight of the counter shall not exceed 3 Kg.
The counter shall be supplied with detail instructions for operation and maintenance.
Workmanship. The blood cell counter shall be free from defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One blood cell counter, as specified constitutes one unit.
