RACK, TEST TUBE, LABORATORY
Wintrobe, Enameled Steel, 10 Tube
This commercial item description shall be used in preference to Military Specification MIL-R-37624.
This commercial item description covers a laboratory test tube rak designed to accommodate ten Wintrobe hematocrit tubes in conjunction with determining sedimentation and hematocrit rates in blood samples.
Salient characteristics.
Design and construction. The test tube rack shall consist of a steel base with three leveling screw legs, a spirit level, an aluminum frame with a plastic back plate and a chromium plated brass cross bar with spring activated pressure buttons. The top and bottom bar of the aluminum frame shall have 10 triangular notches to accommodate 10 hematocrit tubes in a perpendicular position. The notches in the bottom bar shall be numbered consecutively from 1 to 10. See Figure 1.
Workmanship. Workmanship shall be first class throughout. All metal parts shall be free of corrosion and shall be thoroughly cleaned of foreign particles (e.g., dirt, grease, and metal chips). The test tube rack shall be free of sharp edges, cracks, deformation, and other defects which detract from its appearance or impair its serviceability. The leveling screws and threaded members of the base shall perform properly. The finish on component parts shall be free of discontinuities and evidence of chipping and flaking.
Packaging and packing quantities. Unit. Each (EA.). Each rack as specified, constitutes one unit. Shipping containers shall contain six units.
Contractor Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this Commercial Item Description, and that the product conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract.
