BURET, LABORATORY, (Straight)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Federal Specification NNN-B-789.
This commercial item description covers one type of precision laboratory buret.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a straight volumetric buret suitable for use in performing precision laboratory techniques. Shall be of the following characteristics listed in TABLE I.

Shall be fabricated of a borosilicate glass conforming to Type 2, Class A of ASTM E 438. Shall be filled with a permanently attached leak-proof stopcock and glass delivery tip. The stopcock shall be fabricated of glass or TFE fluorocarbon and shall have a retaining device. The glass plug shall be in conformance with ASTM E-675 and the TFE fluorocarbon shall conform with ASTM E-911. Main graduations shall be marked in Arabic numerals directly above the referenced graduation line. Shall be marked with the calibration method at a specified temperature. Shall be in accordance with the specified tolerance as listed in Table I. Shall be tested in accordance with Method A or 8 of ASTM C-148. Burets shall be uniformally symmetrical about the longitudinal center line. All markings shall be permanent and legible. Each buret shall have the manufacturer’s name or registered trademark.
Burets shall have none of the following which will be considered defects:
