COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CENTRIFUGE, LABORATORY (Hematology)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-C-36416C which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers a portable two speed centrifuge for use in blood cell washing procedures.
Salient Characteristics:
Shall be a small compact portable two speed centrifuge that is specifically designed for use in blood grouping, typing, crossmatching, the Coombs test, and other blood cell washing procedures.
Shall be designed to operate with removable and interchangeable six (6) and twelve (12) place heads that accommodate 10 X 75 millimeter (mm), 12 X 75 mm, 12 X 75 mm (Kahn) size test tubes, and other size test tubes not exceeding 12.7 X 75 mm in size. The centrifuge shall be supplied with a twelve (12) place head meeting requirements contained in this specification.
Shall comply with the applicable requirements contained in Underwriters’ Laboratories UL 1262 (Standard for Laboratory Equipment).
Shall be suitable for operation on 50 and 60 Hz AC supply lines. The applicable line voltage shall be as indicated in the contract or purchase order (see “Ordering data”). A reduction (e.g. 5/6 reduction) in motor speed and timer performance on 50 Hz supply lines from that on 60 Hz shall be acceptable.
