COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
PUMP, CIRCULATING
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description in preference for Military Specification MIL-P-42063 (DM) which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers an electrical operated circulating impeller type pump for use in a water bath to thaw frozen blood units.
Salient Characteristics.
Shall be a single speed or a dual speed circulating impeller type water pump, for use in a temperature controlled water bath to thaw frozen blood units. Shall provide a horizontal water discharge.
Shall be suitable for electrical operation from 50/60 Hz AC supply lines. A 5/6 reduction in motor speed on a 50 Hz supply line from that on a 60 Hz supply line shall be acceptable. The applicable line voltage shall be as indicated in the contract and/or order (see “Ordering data” paragraph).
Shall be supplied with a clamp with a 1-1/4 inch wide jaw for attaching to the side of a water bath.
Shall have a nominal overall height of 14 inches with a submersible range level that includes 3 to 7 inches.
Shall, if supplied with a single speed water pump, be rated for a delivery capacity of 10 liters per minute. The single speed water pump shall be electrically operated by a thermally protected motor that is rated for 1550 revolutions per minute (rpm) at no load.
Shall, if supplied with a dual speed water pump, be rated for delivery capacities of 7 and 15 liters per minute. The dual speed water pump shall be electrically operated by a thermally protected motor that is rated for 3000 to 3400 rpm at the 15 liters per minute pumping delivery mode.
