COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
TUBE, SPECIMEN (Pinworm, Disposable)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this Commercial Item Description as a replacement for Military Specification MIL-T-36989A which is cancelled.
This Commercial Item Description covers a sterile and disposable pinworm specimen tube assembly.
Salient Characteristics:
Shall be a disposable pinworm specimen tube assembly that includes a paddle style applicator for collecting pinworms, pollen, spores, dust and other fine particles.
Shall consist of a tube with cap closure, with a paddle member fixed to the inside of the cap closure and suspended within the tube.
Shall be supplied in a sterile condition. The pinworm specimen tube assembly shall be supplied in a sealed envelope that is capable of maintaining the sterility of its contents until the envelope is manually opened. The envelope shall not be resealable after being opened.
Shall include the following:
A nominal 17 diameter X 100 long millimeter (mm) closed end tube, with a reinforced lip around the periphery of the open end, that is fabricated of clear and rigid polystyrene.
A rigid plastic friction type closure cap with the stem of the paddle applicator securely attached to the inside of the closure cap.
A paddle with stem that is fabricated from rigid and clear polyethylene. The paddle itself shall have rounded corners and nominal (mm) dimensions of 40 long X 13 wide X 1 thick. One side (surface) of the paddle shall be coated with tacky adhesive for use in collecting the specimens. The stem shall be securely attached to the inside of the closure cap.
