JAR, ANAEROBIC CULTURE APPARATUS
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a jar which is part of a self-contained anaerobic apparatus and is used to contain the anaerobic atmosphere.
Salient characterisdtic:
Shall be the jar of (or jar replacement for) a self-contained anaerobic apparatus compatible for use with the following components entering into the overall apparatus: (See notes)

The jar shall be fabricated of transparent polycarbonate plastic.
The jar shall be round with an integral flange around the full circumference at the open end. The flange and wall thickness dimensions shall be adequate to safely withstand internal pressures or vacuum generated within the jar during use.
Nominal dimensions of the jar shall be 9 inches (22.9 cm) in overall height, 6 inches (15.2 cm) outside diameter of the flange, and 5-1/8 inches (13.0 cm) outside diameter below the flange.
The top shall have a smooth, flat contact surface so as to make a leakproof seal when mated with the “O” ring gasket of the lid assembly, and secured into operating on the jar.
