HOLDER, LABORATORY NEEDLE (Dissecting)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers a laboratory needle holder with a removable straight point dissecting needle.
Salient characteristics:
Shall be a laboratory needle holder with a clamp or chuck at the distal end. The clamp or chuck shall be adjustable to tighten (secure) or loosen the hold on an inserted dissecting needle.
Shall be supplied with a straight point dissecting needle that is at least 2 inches (50 millimeters) long.
Shall have the holder body fabricated of aluminum, or fabricated of brass with a nickel or chromium plating. The holder body shall be hexagonal or round in cross-sectional shape at its center length. If round shaped, the holder body shall include serrations to facilitate handling.
Shall have clamp or chuck fabricated of brass with a nickel or chromium plating. The clamp or chuck shall have serrations or grooves to facilitate handling.
Shall have holder body supplied with an overall length of at least 3 inches (76.2 millimeters). The width of the cross-section, at the center length, shall be at least 3/16 inches (.075 millimeters) across flats for the hexagonal shape.
Workmanship. The laboratory needle holder with straight point needle shall be free from defects which detract from their appearance or impair their serviceability.
Unit. Each (EA). One holder, as specified, constitutes one unit.
